Fine Wine Course at Berkhamsted Town Hall

A hassle-free chance to compare the world’s finest grape varieties and experience the different styles of wine they produce.

The Fine Wine Course will cover wine tasting techniques, understanding wine labels and provide ideas of matching wine and food.  The aim is for you to find out what you like and the reasons why you like it.

There will be at least 6 different wines to taste at each of the 6 sessions, chosen from the UK’s leading wine & spirit merchants, Berry Bros & Rudd, a family company in St James’s, London SW1, established in the 17th century.

Wednesday evenings 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm for 6 weeks

September 10th, 17th, 24th, October 1st, 8th, 15th

Session 1            Wine Tasting

Session 2            Sauvignon, Semillon, Chardonnay

Session 3            Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc

Session 4            Riesling, Gewurztraminer, Chenin Blanc

Session 5            Pinot Noir, Zinfandel, Gamay

Session 6            Rhône varieties, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Nebbiolo

The course will be restricted to just 15 people.

Wherever possible, video footage of vineyards, winemaking and wine maker comments will be used to bring the wine areas to life.

Light food will be provided

The Fine Wine Course will be led by Alastair Peebles, Master of Wine, who has more than 30 years experience of buying and selling wine, as well as producing TV & corporate wine programmes.

Price per Course:  £245 per person, to include all wines and materials and 6 ISO tasting glasses
